About Dakota
Dakota’s Story
Like many high performers, I had a difficult childhood.
Early adversity tends to push people in one of two directions: they give up, or they use it as fuel. I chose the second path.
On my twentieth birthday, I realized something important. I wasn't willing to sacrifice my peace, authenticity, or enjoyment of life in pursuit of success. Growing up, I watched people chase money, status, and achievement at the expense of their well-being and relationships. The stress followed them everywhere, often spilling onto the people around them.
I wanted something different.
I wanted to become a high performer without burnout, self-abandonment, or pretending to be someone I wasn't.
I spent the next decade climbing at an elite level while working as a professional rock climbing coach and routesetter. I worked with climbers ranging from beginners to elite competitors, helping them develop the skills, mindset, and consistency required to perform at a high level.
During that time, I noticed a pattern.
Many ambitious people are driven by an internal voice that tells them they aren't enough yet. They use self-criticism, insecurity, or the need to prove themselves as fuel. While that motivation can produce results, it often comes at a cost.
Burnout.
Anxiety.
Disconnection from themselves.
A feeling that no achievement is ever quite enough.
The problem isn't ambition. The problem is the source of the ambition.
That realization led me down a decade-long study of psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, meditation, human behavior, and personal development. My goal was simple: find the place where performance and peace can coexist.
What I discovered is that lasting change doesn't begin with tactics.
It begins with self-awareness.
Our thoughts create feelings. Repeated thoughts and feelings become beliefs. Those beliefs shape our behavior, relationships, identity, and ultimately the direction of our lives.
When we learn to understand what our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are trying to tell us, we can stop treating symptoms and start addressing root causes.
That's why my coaching process begins from the inside out.
Phase 1: Internal Landscape
Thoughts. Feelings. Beliefs.
We identify the patterns driving your behavior, uncover blind spots, and develop a deeper understanding of what's actually happening beneath the surface.
Phase 2: External Landscape
Lifestyle. Persona. Tactics.
Once the internal foundation is stronger, we examine how you show up in the world and make practical changes that align with who you truly are.
Phase 3: Integration
Strategy. Sustainability. Balance.
Together, we create a personalized approach that integrates everything you've learned. The result is greater self-awareness, stronger emotional intelligence, grounded confidence, and a way of living that supports both performance and peace.
At the core of everything I do is a simple belief:
All change begins within.
That's what Through Insight is about.
Helping people clearly see what is working, what isn't, and what needs to change so they can build a life that is both successful and meaningful.
"Success without peace is just another form of suffering."
